چکیده

PURPOSE: The Tofts models have long been regarded as a standard approach to tracer-kinetic analysis of DCE-MRI [1]. However, recent technological advances such as parallel imaging and higher field strengths have improved DCE-MRI data quality to a point where more complex models are required [2]. For tissues with a bidirectional exchange of tracer between intraand extravascular spaces, a number of alternative twosite exchange models have been proposed [3-6]. Each imposes different constraints on the tissue, but due to their complicated algebraic structure the relation between the models is poorly understood [7]. As a result it remains unclear which is more accurate in general or in particular applications, and how such a choice can be made operationally. Here we propose a generalised model which exposes the architectural differences between the models and allows transparent handling of model-comparison and -selection issues.

Series expansion of multi-compartment models for DCE-MRI

PURPOSE: Improvements in DCE-MRI data quality are increasingly generating a need for advanced compartmental models to better describe the physiology underlying these data [1]. However, this development is severely constrained by the fact that analytical solutions exist for only the simplest multi-compartment models. Even when such solutions do exist [2], they are algebraically complicated and d...

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

DCE-MRI Rat Cerebral Glioma Blood Volume Determination with Extravasating CR

INTRODUCTION The accurate determination of tumor blood volume fraction (vb) is a highly desired imaging biometric goal. It is commonly thought that this is difficult, if not impossible, for Dynamic-Contrast-Enhanced (DCE) MRI because angiogenic malignant tumor vessels allow fast contrast reagent (CR) extravasation. Most DCE-MRI pharmacokinetic models modify derivations for directly-detected tra...

Integration of DCE-MRI and DW-MRI Quantitative Parameters for Breast Lesion Classification

OBJECTIVE The purpose of our study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of an imaging protocol combining dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) and diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) in patients with suspicious breast lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 31 breast lesions (15 malignant and 16 benign proved by histological examination) in 26 female patients were included in this study. For ...

Imaging heterogeneity of peptide delivery and binding in solid tumors using SPECT imaging and MRI

BACKGROUND As model system, a solid-tumor patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model characterized by high peptide receptor expression and histological tissue homogeneity was used to study radiopeptide targeting. In this solid-tumor model, high tumor uptake of targeting peptides was expected. However, in vivo SPECT images showed substantial heterogeneous radioactivity accumulation despite homogenous...
